Responsibilities:
 
Collaborate/Partner with other teams, both internal and external, including 3rd party vendors (such as Scene7), Enterprise testing, Release Planning and Management, Business System Analysis, Project Management and Application Support on a successful delivery of systems enhancements. SUMMARY 

Coordinate cost-out engineering processes and projects for minimizing the total cost of producing freezers.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manage, coordinate and monitor Cost-Out Engineering-related activities to ensure competent and timely completion of their commitments.

Generate ideas that eliminate cost and can be tracked and implemented on time.  

Coordinate new parts and engineering changes with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineers, Production, Quality, Product Planning, and external suppliers.  

Approve new projects through the engineering lab, and ensure the proper testing is complete to ensure the new suppliers/ components will be problem free once in production.

 

Work with suppliers on process design and control to ensure quality product.  Effectively and tactfully communicate (verbally and in writing) externally to suppliers; sell ideas and strategies internally across multiple levels of the organization.  Other duties may be assigned.

JOB SUMMARY: for an Electrical Engineer (Software) from a consumer product background. Design & development responsibility for preliminary design, final design, qualification, and production launch of assigned key subsystems and/or components related to fabric care programs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Oversee design of new and redesigned components, to improve quality, function, performance and reliability while maintaining cost, manufacturability, and agency compliance. Including but limited to- schematics, harness layouts, and electromechanical design.

-Provide design specifications to lead and coordinate supplier development programs and test qualifications, including mechanical attributes and electrical components 

-Manage agency approvals of hardware through UL,CSA, and/or other appropriate agencies

-Coordinate and support efforts required through the Model Shop, Test & Evaluation Lab, Reliability testing, Consumer Science, and other Fabric Care departments/groups. 

-Including hands-on assistance with setting up and performing the qualification tests. 

-Assist in the development and approval of test and quality plans for designed components and assemblies. Analyze and approve test results to ensure they meet the requirements of the manufacturing processes and assembly.

-Prepare and maintain project schedules. Prepare and present project reviews as required.

-Prepare and direct preparation of Engineering documentation (BOM’s, ECN’s, DVR’s etc)

-Analyze cost of engineering programs for budgetary analysis. Coordinate and support purchasing, marketing, and other groups to define/refine costs in support of project objectives

-Oversee disposition of PPAPs

-International and domestic travel required as needed.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRMENTS

o        BS degree in Electrical or Electronic engineering, related physical science, or equivalent education from a fully accredited school or past job duties.

o        Must demonstrate creative ability through invention or equally significant contributions to profession.

o        Minimum of 2 years design related experience.  

o        Experience with failure analysis, electromechanical design, and software packages: ORCAD, CADENCE, MS Office, LabView

o        Motor control theory and application including scalar and vector, with all motor types

o        Knowledge of washer and dryer test procedures and agency experience with: UL / AHAM / IEC / CSA / DOE

o        Competent with basic tools and instruments such as oscilloscope, multi-meter, data logger, etc…

o        Ability to prioritize and plan effectively.

Summary:
